We already have 4 rain out games unscheduled because there are no more available slots. Yes we have the Aug 28/30 that we could use and then start the playoffs just after Labour day but if we get rain outs during the playoffs, we run the risk of playing in October which we are trying to avoid this season. So I thought I'd put up a poll and see what people think, please vote or post alternate suggestions.
It takes 4 weeks to play the playoffs assuming no PPD games so playoffs must start the first week of Sept to not play in October.
1. Just push back the regular season and playoffs - traditional method but this year there's been a lot of rain outs
2. Play makeup games Sunday's at 3pm - I like this one but a bit of schedule shuffling may be in order because I doubt teams will want to play at 3pm then 9. Preferably, teams playing at 3 would likely want to play again at 5.
3. Play 3 games Tues/Thurs (6:00, 7:45 and 9:30?) - Possibility but I know I cannot make 6pm games from Kanata. Also the lights go off at 11:15...
4. Make them up on a Saturday afternoon (Aug 25?) - Tough to get enough guys for a Saturday although if scheduled early enough, it could work
5. Cancel league tournament and play them then - I like the league tournament but it's a possibly. Need to decide this one right away because we have to cancel the beer tent, etc.

I like the 3rd option of 3 games on weeknights. Could we not ask the city to leave the lights on for an extra hour during July and have the games commence at 6:30, 8:15 and 10:00? I realize that 10pm is a little late to start, but I know quite a few guys who stick around for post-game refreshments untill close to midnight anyway. It would just cut into the "team bonding time".

Lets hope we don't run into more rainouts in the next 2 to 3 weeks or we will have to reconsider having the tournament.

The schedule has been updated for the 4 rainout games that were not scheduled and now they are scheduled for the last week before labour day. So officially all rainout dates are now used.
Another option we have is not starting the league tournament until Friday night (especially if we only have 8 teams) and playing some rainouts on the Thursday (if more happen between now and then).
Also if the women aren't using the diamond, we could play 2 rainout games on the labour day holiday Monday night. I figure that most will be back from their long weekend holiday by Monday night. For that matter, we could play 4 games that day starting at 5 if necessary.

I think it would be a shame to cancel the tournament. Our team (Rogues) has always had a lot of fun at the BMFL tourney, it's a great weekend event which the BMFL has ran extremely well. The atmosphere (beer tent, bleachers full, families with kids runnin around etc.) has a real community feel to it and that's rare these days. It's a well-orgazined tourney that we always look forward to playing in.
I would hope that all other viable options would be explored prior to cancelling the tournament, some of you who have been in the league for a number of years may take the tournament for granted, but I think it is something that is fantastic for the league, and gives the opportunity to get to know each other a bit better over a few beers between/after games.

What if the teams who were rained-out were scheduled to play eachother in the tournament, and we count the results in the standings?

The games should not be counted do to the fact that certain teams pick up non-league players for the tournament.

After the meeting on Monday night and the scheduler being creative and rearranging, there is a new schedule out that includes double-headers on three Sundays (July 29, August 19, August 26) and on a Tuesday (August 2).
The schedule changes start on July 17. Check out the new schedule posted today on the website.

Sorry to incovience you otherwill. In a perfect world there wouldn't be any rainouts. In a perfect world all the teams that had rainouts would be playing each other on the original shedule on the last 4 Sundays of the season. But that was only possible for one game. I would of like to make changes in August but I couldn't. Denis and Eric as well as the executive and most team reps were made aware of the possibility of teams maybe not playing a given week. I apologize for missing you on the July 10 email. G.O.B's and Knights aren't playing this week and there has been to whining from them. Guzzlers don't play next week, no whining. I am just trying to get to playoffs started before October 1st.

I think you mean playoffs ended by October 1st, man that would be cold starting playoffs in Oct! Although at this rate of rainouts, we may be headed that way.
Just a note that with a predicted 40-50mm of rain coming between now and tomorrow morning, it looks like we're destined for another two rainouts tonight.

No I meant playoffs starting in October. If 2 Sundays get rainouted that have 6 games sheduled. That is 12 games to be resheduled!!!!
