There's a couple guys who were drafted as pitchers that so far haven't hardly pitched. We all know why these guys were taken. It was so the team wasn't forced to take a "weaker" player in the later rounds. That's fine and dandy but the league should monitor this and there should be some kind of penalty or punishment. Like losing a 1st round pick next year.

Who was drafted as a pitcher and hasn't pitched this season? Trevor Sanderson (A's) and Eric Periard (Stan's).

trevor has pitched, I know it is only 12+ innings he did seperate his knee cap in the first game of the season, and only missed 2 games (left game 19 early) and he may miss the last 5 games with more damage to the same knee he has missed the last two, and is hopeing to return, but may not. so about 1/3 of the season lost to injury.................. But please take away our daft pick, we don't need it maybe we will be -100 in run differental next year. By the way he has started 4 games and if healthy might have started 2 more. The interesting thing is we have put in a mercey rule I guess because teams didn't like playing in 19 -1 and 23-0 games. Like when I started in the leauge. now we have a mercy rule and the number of inning that is takes to qualify as a new pitcher has not been changed or reduced even though you have the increased chance of less total innings. As a team you cannot allow a new pitcher pitch out of jams or just work on getting innings because the games are over quicker and you are done in an hour. In the past you could allow a new or a pitcher who is developing some more leeway, or innings at the end of some games, now the game is over as soon as he gives up some runs. eg 8-2 game in the fifth after 1 hour and 20 minutes of play. you put in an other pitcher he gives up a few walks a couple of hits gets some outs( or just 1 out ) 3 runs game over. total innings 1/3 and there is still 20 mintues of ball left. When we drafted trevor I said he was our 4th pitcher there was no illusion there, we had injuries last year and we needed pitching at the end of the season. it is ironic that I have missed and will miss many of last few games because of work and trevor is hurt. so more games and innings for will and pickle. and I hope they don't get hurt., or we may have to pick up another pitcher.

To get back to the origonal thread, I said before the evaluation day that I was thinking of drafting a pitcher, and I guess "we all don't know or remember why" some players were taken. And there is a penalty you lose that player to the draft. he must go back in next year. I don't know about you but I really don't want to lose trevor he is a good player and a developing pitcher. I would draft him again next year in the pitcher draft if I have to. before you acuse teams and individuals on an open forum you may want to discuss it at leauge meetings or through private email. it just looks petty otherwise.

Sorry Will if I offended you. I just wanted to make sure that this was seen and discussed. This is the best place for it since many more league members visit the forum than attend meetings. Often during summer meetings there's barely anybody as you know.
Also, I remember all the discussion that took place before the draft. I'm the one who brought up the innings pitched and said that I didn't think it was fair if a team wanted a 3rd or 4th pitcher that he'd have to pitch the same amount. But nobody shared my opinion.
Taking away a draft pick was probably a stupid thing for me to say. I realize that. I just want to make sure that going forward when teams draft a pitcher its because that team needs pitching (like the A's because of past injury problems) and not a way to avoid picking a "weaker" player in the late rounds.
