I'd vote for Wayne Hunter for "convincing" others at the ratings meetings that most of his guys are just average which ultimately gave them a high pick. Not bad for a team that has lost maybe 10 games the past 3 yrs.
I'm kidding of course !!! I'd go with Pistol Pete.

What does one pick do for a team though really?? One guy can only do so much. So what if we got a high pick, we play as a team we win as a team and occasionally we lose as a team.

What does one pick do for a team though really?? One guy can only do so much. So what if we got a high pick, we play as a team we win as a team and occasionally we lose as a team. Sometimes, and in some cases often, one player makes a huge difference on a team. When Blakely came into the league Lacroix chose to take Will Mood #1 in the pitching draft instead of Blakey. Sure Will could hit a ton but he was just learning to pitch at that point. With Blakely the Knights went from the basement to Top 2 or 3 teams ever since. And a few years ago we the GOB picked Rej Doiron in the 2nd round and man were we ever happy teams passed on him. And last year the Knights lucked out getting Tom who could play all star CF and C and pitch pretty good too. For the draft, The league can't do anything when teams don't pick well but when the drafting order doesn't make sense like it did this past year, that's when the league needs to make changes. And from what I heard things were tried behind the scenes but it didn't work out. Some how the previous years standings have to be taken into consideration somehow. I know no system is perfect but our current drafting procedures need adjusting so the league can be more balanced.

I do some what agree with you about the drafting process however, the whole Blakely/Mood situation is just one circumstance. I can say the reason it had such a big impact on the league standings is because they are pitchers. The only way one player can make a big difference in a teams performance is if they are a pitcher. One good defensive player can only change a game if he's hit to on the field. The same goes with a hitter....if he can make good contact and knock a few balls around that's awesome but solo homeruns can only go so far right? In order for a team to climb the standings there has to be a full team effort. Anyways like I said I do agree with your comment about the drafting process, they should take into consideration the final standing of the year before maybe a bottom 3 team draft lottery or something?
